Roberto Martinez among favourites to become next Watford manager after Flores confirms he will leave Vicarage Road
The future of Quique Sanchez Flores at Watford has been far from certain and it has now been confirmed that the Spaniard will leave the Hertfordshire club at the end of the season.
Despite keeping the Hornets in the top flight and guiding them to an FA Cup semi-final, it has been decided that Flores will depart and leave the way open for a new manager to take over next season.
Roberto Martinez could be in line to take over, with the former Everton manager potentially looking for a quick return and he has experience of the Premier League with the Toffees and Wigan.
However, Martinez’s tenure at Everton ended badly and perhaps Rafael Benitez could be lured into the vacant role, with Watford looking for a manager that can take the Hornets into the top half of the Premier League.
While Flores did particularly well to keep Watford out of danger, the Spaniard could barely buy a league win in the past few months, with the club thanking their manager for the achievement of keeping the team in the top flight.
It might be that Walter Mazzarri has been lined up to take charge of Watford, with the experienced coach having previously taken charge of Internazionale, Napoli and Sampdoria.
