The Chicago Bears on Friday announced a sports betting sponsorship with PointsBet.

This is the second NFL team sponsorship for in as many days for PointsBet as it announced a similar deal with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday.

PointsBet will have full usage of the Bears’ IP, marks and logos, as well as sponsorship opportunities and brand visibility across various digital assets, according to a news release.

“As we break into the sports betting category for the first time, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome PointsBet to the Bears family as a Proud Partner,” Chicago Bears President & CEO Ted Phillips said in the news release. “This deal will bring fans a new way to interact with and cheer on the club.”

Through the partnership, Bears fans will also receive a unique sign-up code for PointsBet’s market-leading mobile app for access to special promotions, according to the news release.

PointsBet recently announced it had signed former Chicago Bears star Devin Hester to serve as ambassador for its Chicago-based sports betting products and throughout the state.

Upward Trend of NFL, Sportsbook Deals

Other recent deals between sportsbook operators and NFL teams include the New York Giants and DraftKings and Las Vegas Raiders and BetMGM, both announced last week. The Detroit Lions recently teamed up with BetMGM and the Denver Broncos were the first NFL team to announce a sportsbook partnership, with FanDuel, and then added BetMGM and Betfred over the summer.

In addition to launching the PointsBet mobile app and digital product for Illinois sports bettors on Sept. 12, PointsBet’s convenient retail presence in Chicago will soon debut at four sites: Hawthorne Race Course (Stickney) represents the flagship retail location, and additional off-track betting (OTB) premium sportsbooks will debut in Prospect Heights, Oakbrook Terrace, and Crestwood.

“The PointsBet team is incredibly excited to become the first legal sportsbook partner in Chicago Bears history. We are teaming up with a first-class organization, supported by extremely passionate fans,” said Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO. “Since launching our fast and differentiated mobile sports betting app in Illinois, we’ve been thrilled by the reception from Chicago sports bettors. We’ve always viewed Illinois to be a supreme market opportunity for the PointsBet brand, and we look forward to increasing our presence alongside famed partners in the Chicago Bears.”

PointsBet has already partnered with the Detroit Tigers in the MLB, the Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets in the NBA, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and reached a deal with the University of Colorado in the NCAA.

The NFL betting partnerships continue a busy period for PointsBet this year. The company, which was founded in Australia, has also partnered with the NBA, PGA Tour and NBC Sports, in addition to the agreements it has come to with teams in the different leagues.

PointsBet launched in the U.S. sports betting market in January 2019 and is currently available in New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa.
