We’re expecting Chelsea to win at St James’ Park and increase the pressure on Steve McClaren
Eight tasty Premier League fixtures to enjoy on Saturday and we’ve got correct score predictions and a betting tip for each one.
Tottenham v Man City 12:45
You can read an in-depth preview here, although Spurs aren’t scoring enough goals at the moment, with Harry Kane’s “drought” putting Mauricio Pochettino in a difficult position. Perhaps Song Heung-Min will make a difference and he plundered plenty of goals at Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen.
Even so, David Silva and Vincent Kompany are expected to be back for this fixture and Manchester City have already collected away wins at Everton, West Brom and Crystal Palace this season. They demolished Sunderland on Tuesday night and it’s hard to look beyond them here.
CORRECT SCORE: Tottenham Hotspur 0 Manchester City 2
BEST BET: Manchester City to win @ 37/40 with BetVictor
Leicester v Arsenal 15:00
Arsenal at 4/5 to win at the King Power? No thanks! Leicester are riding high and their results haven’t been one bit fluky. They have also shown heart to recover from losing positions against Aston Villa and Tottenham, with Riyad Mahrez the player of the season so far.
You can make a case for a Foxes win here, although we’ll play it safer by backing Mahrez to find the net against the Gunners. The midfielder is on penalty duties and his wonderful run of goals suggests he will get chances against an Arsenal team going for the win.
CORRECT SCORE: Leicester City 2 Arsenal 2
BEST BET: Riyad Mahrez to score @ 7/2 with Betfred
Liverpool v Aston Villa 15:00
Liverpool are worth opposing in this match. 120 fruitless minutes of football against Carlisle on Wednesday will make the mood toxic at Anfield, with Aston Villa fresh from a dominant display against Birmingham on Tuesday night.
BetVictor go 13/2 about the Villans winning the game although we’ll be more cautious and back them on the Double Chance market which means we get the draw too.
CORRECT SCORE: Liverpool 1 Aston Villa 2
BEST BET: Aston Villa and Draw @ 7/4 with Paddy Power
Man Utd v Sunderland 15:00
How can you make a case for Sunderland in this game? Manchester United should easily have too much for the Black Cats, with Louis van Gaal simply needing to guard against complacency. He must be delighted that Anthony Martial has had such a big impact already.
CORRECT SCORE: Manchester United 3 Sunderland 0
BEST BET: Manchester United win to nil @ 10/11 with Sky Bet
Southampton v Swansea 15:00
Swansea won this fixture last season although they’re goal-shy on the road, drawing recent blanks at Hull and Watford. They might not get much change from a Saints side who demolished MK Dons in the League Cup and should really have got something against Manchester United last weekend.
CORRECT SCORE: Southampton 2 Swansea City 0
BEST BET: Southampton to win @ 11/10 with Sky Bet
Stoke v Bournemouth 15:00
The Potters look a good bet to win this game. Bournemouth were outplayed in their last away game at Norwich and played 120 minutes at Deepdale on Tuesday night before squeezing through on penalties.
Stoke need to start showing their ruthless streak and they were 2-0 up on Leicester last weekend before allowing them back in the game.
CORRECT SCORE: Stoke City 2 Bournemouth 0
BEST BET: Stoke to win @ 8/5 with BetVictor
West Ham v Norwich 15:00
The Hammers are the kings of the road after wins away to Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, although they can’t yet be trusted at the Boleyn Ground. Alex Neil has his Norwich team well-drilled and perhaps they can repeat their Anfield result and get a point from this match.
CORRECT SCORE: West Ham 1 Norwich 1
BEST BET: Draw @ 5/2 with Winner
Newcastle v Chelsea 17:30
The natives are restless and we see problems ahead for the Magpies in this one. Chelsea are starting to click and even the absence of Diego Costa shouldn’t be an issue for the champions who can boast Loic Remy in attack being supported by Eden Hazard and Pedro.
CORRECT SCORE: Newcastle 0 Chelsea 3
BEST BET: Chelsea HT FT @ 28/17 with 888sport
