Rob Cross 4/1 to win 2019 World Darts Championship

Cross second favourite behind Michael van Gerwen to repeat his Alexandra Palace heroics

Rob Cross is the champion of the darting world after an amazing final performance against Phil Taylor that saw the man known as Voltage claim a 7-2 success.

The Hampshire thrower has emerged rapidly from relative obscurity to become the reigning champion and bookmaker Ladbrokes offer 4/1 that the 27-year-old claims a consecutive world title at the 2019 World Championship in twelve months’ time.

Cross has immediately been installed as part of the Premier League furniture although the bookies still think that Michael van Gerwen is the man to beat on the world stage, with BetVictor going 10/11 about the Dutchman claiming the spoils.

MVG had several match darts to beat Cross in the semi-final of the recent World Championship and will feel he’s still the player to beat, while Gary Anderson is an 11/2 chance with bet365 and it shouldn’t be forgotten that he’s a two-time winner of this tournament.

Many expected Daryl Gurney to be among the challengers at the recent tournament and the Northern Irishman is a 40/1 chance to win the 2019 World Championship, with Gerwyn Price trading at 100/1 with Ladbrokes and the Welshman is open to more progression after running MVG close at Ally Pally.

All odds were correct at time of posting.
