Lukaku has scored in his last five Premier League matches and Ladbrokes have 150/1 that the Belgian smashes the Vardy record
Romelu Lukaku is enjoying his best ever season in an Everton shirt, with the big forward having scored fourteen goals so far and seven of these have come in the past six matches.
Five of those matches were Premier League encounters and speculation is building over whether Lukaku can get close to Jamie Vardy’s record of scoring in eleven consecutive matches.
Ladbrokes are offering 150/1 that Lukaku manages to score in twelve consecutive games, with Everton heading to Norwich this weekend and the Toffees will be confident of getting among the goals as they did during a 3-3 draw at Bournemouth.
Everton then face Leicester, Newcastle, Stoke and Tottenham, with Martinez full of praise for his striker after some captivating performances which are yielding results.
“Rom has been very consistent in the last 12 months, it is 26 or 27 goals in the calendar year – quite impressive,” said Martinez.
“When you look at the overall development in the last 12 months, it makes you realise what a special footballer we have.
“It is not just talking about potential. We are talking about a goalscorer who can control the moment and see the importance of his role in the team.
“Romelu could have had a hat-trick and we created a lot of open chances against a team that is very good defensively.”
