Southampton FC going down according to bookies

Saints now 4/9 to be relegated from Premier League after Chelsea come back to win at St Mary’s

Southampton looked to be boosting their survival hopes at St Mary’s on Saturday when taking a 2-0 lead against Chelsea, although a second-half revival saw the Blues claim a 3-2 victory.

It means that Mark Hughes’ side are cut adrift at the foot of the Premier League table and bet365 go 4/9 about the south coast side going down to the Championship at the end of the campaign.

Southampton still have five top flight games remaining this term, with a trip to Leicester in the offing on Thursday before further games against Bournemouth, Everton, Swansea and Manchester City.

The Swans are five points better off having played the same number of games, with BetVictor prepared to offer 5/1 that the Welsh side suffer the drop this term and it appears as though City have done enough to stay afloat.

The same applies to Huddersfield who claimed a last-gasp 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday which moves them seven points clear of trouble with four games left of their own to play.

Indeed, the bookies have West Brom as nailed to be relegated and Stoke are a 1/7 shot with William Hill although they do have Monday’s game at West Ham as an opportunity to haul themselves back into contention.

The Hammers are now 20/1 for the drop and a victory against the Potters will mean they can start planning for another season in the Premier League.

All odds were correct at time of posting.
