Strictly Come Dancing week 9 tips – Jamelia bowing out in Blackpool

Jay McGuiness facing seaside Salsa, while outright rivals Peter Andre goes Jive talking and Georgia May Foote is all American Smooth

Jamelia has survived four dance-offs during this series of Strictly Come Dancing, but a fifth in Blackpool is likely to prove terminal as all the weak opposition has now been eliminated.

The bookies make the Loose Women presenter and former popstar a firm odds-on favourite in the next elimination market, with William Hill offering the best price of 2/7. It’s one bet that looks virtually nailed on.

Alongside professional partner Tristan MacManus, Jamelia will be performing the Quickstep – a dance where there is no hiding place from technique – and the public clearly prefer to vote for other celebrities.

The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is almost guaranteed to be Jamelia’s last competitive routine, with her chickens finally coming home to roost after her conduct on Bear Grylls: Mission Survive earlier this year lost her favour and sympathy.

With seven of the 15 celebrities from this season already eliminated, the outright market is heating up and another old popstar Peter Andre is at his most appealing odds yet at a terrific top price of 12/1 with BetVictor.

Joined by partner Janette Manrara, Mysterious Girl singer Andre tackles the Jive in what is likely to be a fleet of foot, high octane routine. Given his massive social media following, the above price or best odds of 7/1 with bet365 to be top male celebrity on Strictly this series are both attractive.

Ex-Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote’s cheeky Charleston number last week has catapulted her into contention, however, with Ladbrokes going an awesome 11/4 on her getting her hands on the Glitter Ball Trophy.

She’s also odds-on at 4/6 with Boylesports to be best female celebrity this year ahead of Casualty’s Anita Rani (best-price 13/2 with Coral), Call the Midwife star Helen George (8/1 with Betway), BBC Radio 3 and Proms presenter Katie Derham (10/1 also with Coral) and Eastenders’ Kellie Bright (12/1 with Sky Bet).

Alongside professional partner Giovanni Pernice, Bury native Georgia returns to ballroom dancing this week with an American Smooth. Impressive lifts are sure to follow and help her find favour with the public.

The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness remains an odds-on outright favourite and Coral are quoting the leading 8/11 price on him in the outright market.
Accompanied by partner Aliona Vilani, there’s a sizzling Samba routine for Jay at the seaside here, with hip action key to wowing the audience.

All odds were correct at time of posting.
