Tiger Woods looks set to play for Team USA in the 2018 Ryder Cup and they’re slight favourites to beat Team Europe
The 2018 Ryder Cup is looming large, with the action taking place between 28-30 September and it appears as though Tiger Woods will be one of the US wildcards based on his recent form.
While the 14-time major champion sits well outside the rankings to automatically make the dozen players to represent the American side, it appears likely that Jim Furyk will give Woods the nod.
“My goal is to make the team, but whatever happens over the course of this season, I will continue to do whatever I can to help us keep the Cup,” Woods said in a statement. “I’m excited about the challenge.”
Bookmaker bet365 have Team USA as slight 9/10 favourites to win in Paris despite the fact that the Ryder Cup will be played in Europe, with a partisan crowd hoping to swing things back in the direction of the Europeans.
Europe are as big as 5/4 to win the three-day event, although they were roundly outclassed two years ago in the States and they will hope that players like Rory McIlroy and Francesco Molinari are at the top of their game.
