We’ve picked out a big-priced player to score the most Premier League goals during the 2016/17 season
Now could be the time to back Romelu Lukaku for 2016/17 Premier League Top Goalscorer. The Belgian has yet to score for Everton this term, although he’s only enjoyed one start since returning from Euro 2016 duty and is starting to regain his match sharpness.
Indeed, a brace while on international duty suggests that Lukaku is now ready to get among the goals for the Toffees and odds of 25/1 make plenty of appeal considering that bet365 and other bookmakers are paying 1/4 for the first four places.
Lukaku hasn’t got a great deal of catching up to do, with Diego Costa and Zlatan Ibrahimovic having notched four thus far, while Sergio Aguero has three although the latter is out for an additional game through suspension.
Aguero might also be rested as the season wears on and Pep Guardiola plots a way to win the Champions League, with Lukaku finishing fourth in the scoring charts last term behind Jamie Vardy, Aguero and Harry Kane, the latter of whom came out on top.
The Belgian is now operating for a more dynamic and attacking Everton side who have Yannick Bolasie and Idrissa Gueye in their ranks, while Ashley Williams adds strength in central defence.
Aguero is the 10/3 favourite although he’s only topped the scoring charts on one occasion, with Zlatan, Costa and Kane all trading at much shorter odds than the Everton forward who could be about to get among the goals and take the top flight by storm.
Under Ronald Koeman, his game should develop enormously and it’s clear that the Dutchman rates the forward highly. Get on the 25/1 while you can.
