Bookies.com present the 2016 darts Masters fixture list featuring Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen and more

After a relatively dry darting January, with a break following Gary Anderson’s retaining of the PDC World Darts Championship title, tungsten tussles finally return to TV at the end of the month, with the 2016 Masters proudly taking centre stage.

From Saturday, January 30th to Sunday, January 31st there will be two decadent days of oche entertainment to indulge in before the Premier League Darts returns in early February. Far from just a warm-up tournament, however, top darting protagonists will be out in force for the opening fixtures outlined below.

Reigning champ Michael van Gerwen’s hackles should be dangerously raised following an early exit in the Worlds, with first opponent Stephen Bunting likely to bear the brunt of the Dutchman’s determination. Should he dodge defeat to the out-of-form Bullet, Mighty Mike could encounter compatriot and recent conqueror, plus his rival in last year’s final, Raymond van Barneveld yet again in the quarters.

So, the stage is set, with the world number one a fantastic 15/8 with William Hill to hold on to this trophy and begin 2016 with a bang.

Meanwhile, closest tipped competitor for the crown Anderson is a best market 7/2 with all of Sky Bet, BetVictor and 888.com to add this title to his already extensive haul. First up for The Flying Scotsman is Vincent van der Voort, which should prove smooth sailing (if there is such a thing in darts), as he last whitewashed this opposition 4-0 at the Alexandra Palace, dropping just one leg.

Returning to potential revenge fixtures, legendary tungsten hero Phil Taylor, was dismissed far too easily over Christmas by former BDO world champion Jelle Klaasen. Now the pair are pitted against each other once more, though punters will be hoping for a higher quality clash.

The Power is still capable of bringing down the house and, as one of just three previous Masters winners, may be worth a cheeky 9/1 flutter with Coral to celebrate title victory at Arena:MK.

In further first round ties, veteran Robert Thornton opens proceedings versus first time major-seeking Dave Chisnall, while another former Masters winner in James Wade aims for a revival against bullish Terry Jenkins and hopeful Peter Wright wrangles with old pro Ian White.

While, evergreen arrowsmith Van Barneveld takes on recent Worlds opponent Michael Smith, with Bully Boy undoubtedly eager to turn the tables, and big-gun Adrian Lewis looks to hit the jackpot against Belgian battler Kim Huybrechts.
