Tottenham Hotspur open talks with Frank de Boer over manager’s job

"When Tottenham are coming, I want to listen, after 3 May, to what they have to say."

De Boer favourite to replace Tim Sherwood at White Hart Lane

Tottenham have been through a spate of managers under Daniel Levy and it appears that yet another man will be gracing the hot seat at White Hart Lane this summer.

Frank de Boer has just steered Ajax to a Dutch title success and it appears that the former Rangers midfielder is ready to hold serious talks with Spurs about the possibility of replacing Tim Sherwood.

While Sherwood has done reasonably well since replacing Andre Villas-Boas, the Englishman has been privately told that his services won’t be required come the end of the season, with De Boer number one on the club’s hit list.

“When Tottenham are coming, I want to listen, after 3 May, to what they have to say,” De Boer said, referring to the date of their last game of the season, at home to NEC Nijmegen on Saturday. “It is clear that they have to have good plans. I would not leave Ajax for nothing. But Spurs are a club that I feel good about. They play good football.

“They have made their interest clear to Marc Overmars and, after the last match, I am going to think about this possibility. I am going to talk and listen and, after that, I will let my feelings speak.”

The fact that former Ajax men Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen are already at Tottenham means that the way could be paved for De Boer to arrive.

“I want to add something to a club, something which people can say: ‘That’s the hand of Frank De Boer,'” he said. “Liverpool is a nice example of that, with what Brendan Rodgers is doing right now.”

All odds were correct at time of posting.
