UEFA Champions League fixtures and tips – 16 / 17 February

Real Madrid might not have things their own way at Stadio Olimpico

Chelsea head to the French capital for a tricky fixture, while Real Madrid clash with Roma in the Champions League

We have four cracking Champions League encounters to kick off the last sixteen stage of the competition, with Paris Saint-Germain hosting Chelsea on Tuesday night.

Benfica and Zenit clash in Lisbon the same evening, while Gent and Wolfsburg square off on Wednesday night, although the more attractive tie takes place in Italy where Roma host Real Madrid.

Benfica v Zenit St P 19:45

Andre Villas-Boas returns to Portugal with his Zenit side who won their group at a canter and look capable of landing a positive result in Lisbon.

Zenit have had a massive winter break ahead of this match although AVB is ruling against any rustiness and feels as though his side can get the better of a Benfica side who lost against Porto on Friday night.

Paris St G v Chelsea 19:45
Looks like a no-brainer of a home win. John Terry and Kurt Zouma are injured and that means the untested partnership of Branislav Ivanovic and Gary Cahill will try to nullify a dangerous PSG attack.

Angel Di Maria has been a man inspired for Paris this season, with the dangerous Zlatan Ibrahimovic looking to help put Chelsea to the sword before the second leg is played.

Wednesday 17th February 2016
KAA Gent v VfL Wolfsburg 19:45

We’re quite taken by the odds on Gent here. Wolfsburg have been pitiful on the road in the Bundesliga this season and edging out Manchester United at the group stage wasn’t exactly a momentous achievement.

Gent held their nerve to come through the group stage and the Belgian side will know the importance of landing a victory before heading to the Volkswagen Arena.

BETTING TIP: Gent @ 2/1 with Paddy Power

Roma v Real Madrid 19:45
Roma have built a head of steam recently, winning their last four in all competitions and they have a chance against a Real Madrid side whose recent away form is nothing special.

Los Merengues have lost at Villarreal and drawn away to Valencia and Real Betis, with Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Athletic Bilbao illustrating that they are defensively vulnerable.

BETTING TIP: Roma +1 @ 21/20 with bet365
