Manchester United manager goes to former club Chelsea and he remains favourite in the Sack Race market
Jose Mourinho has probably enjoyed the respite of the international break, especially after a 3-2 win over Newcastle United which saw his Red Devils team come back from two goals down to claim the spoils.
However, that result might have been simply papering over the cracks considering that there are clear defensive issues within the team and the bookies remain confident that the United boss will be the first Premier League gaffer to leave his post.
Mourinho is happy to remain in charge for as long as he can, with there being little appetite on his part to walk away from this highly lucrative contract.
Interestingly, Paddy Power now go 6/4 about Mourinho which is the biggest price that the Portuguese has been for several weeks, with the Red Devils board seemingly showing little appetite to get rid of their current boss, especially at this point in the season.
Other firms go 4/6 that he wins the infamous Sack Race market, although it’s possible that someone else will bite the bullet before him, with Neil Warnock currently trading at odds of 5/1.
The Cardiff City manager did excellently to get the Bluebirds into the Premier League last season although it’s been hard work this term and they clash with Fulham this weekend which could be make or break for Warnock.
Mark Hughes is a 6/1 chance to also go although perhaps there is still some mileage in backing No Manager to Leave at odds of 150/1.
All odds were correct at time of posting.
