World Grand Prix 2016 darts schedule, preview and tips

Gary Anderson during the walk on in the second round match on day eight of the William Hill PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace, London.

Gary Anderson could be the best bet to win the 2016 World Grand Prix after avoiding MVG and The Power

We’ve got another corking darts tournament coming up, with the World Grand Prix one of the most exciting, especially as it features the “double in, double out” format where players need to throw a double to kick things off each leg.

It makes things a bit more edgy in the earlier rounds, especially the first one where it’s best of three sets and a few missed opening doubles can leave a player on the verge of an exit.

However, we’re not expecting Gary Anderson to suffer against Jamie Caven in the opening round and the Flying Scotsman can finally break his duck in this tournament.

The world champion has yet to win a significant tournament since claiming a second World Championship crown at Alexandra Palace but it’s surely a matter of time and there’s little wrong with his game.

What’s to Anderson’s advantage in Dublin is the fact that Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor have been drawn in the opposite half and there appear to be few early dangers for the Scot whose game should suit the “double in” format.
