PGA Tour players were off last week for a rare open slot in the wraparound schedule. Some of the big names will continue to rest in the aftermath of the Masters, but others are returning to competition this week. And nothing says “back to work” quite like the Mayakoba Golf Classic at El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Golf betting favorites have been hot lately with Dustin Johnson winning the Masters and Bryson DeChambeau taking the U.S. Open at Winged Foot. We’ll see if that continues this week with some of the shortest odds you’ll see at for a favorite in Justin Thomas at +650. Brooks Koepka is also in action and listed second at +1200, an extremely wide discrepancy that shows how strongly oddsmakers feel about Thomas’ chances this week.
Harris English is next at +1600 while Abraham Ancer is +1800 in the latest Mayakoba Golf Classic betting odds. Other big names include Tony Finau at +2200 and Rickie Fowler at +3300.

Rickie Fowler Top-10 Finish (+300)
The results might not show it yet, but Fowler seems to be coming out of a post swing-change slump. He’s made 10 cuts in his last 12 starts and finished T-29 at the Masters. Now it’s just about trusting the swing and putting it to use at a course he’s played well in two prior starts — a solo second in 2017 and T-16 in 2018. He’s a combined 32 under-par in eight rounds, none of them higher than 69. We believe he’ll find something this week and turn in a top-10 finish at +300 with BetMGM.

Justin Thomas (-167) Over Brooks Koepka
Thomas’ +650 odds to win this week represent a strong statement from oddsmakers. Thomas loves a birdie-fest, and we’ll definitely get one in Mexico. He’s also riding a ridiculous streak of nine straight tournaments with a T-12 or better, including a solo fourth at the Masters and T-2 at the Zozo Championship.
Koepka is getting back into form as well with back-to-back top 10s, but Thomas is making everything look easy right now. We like him in this matchup and don’t mind paying the juice at -167 with Unibet.

Rickie Fowler (-110) Over Corey Conners
We’re betting Rickie again in a matchup, and we’re going against one of our favorites. Corey Conners has been a consistent DFS performer and betting sleeper for quite a while, and everyone seems high on his chances again this week coming off back-to-back T-10 finishes at the Masters and the RSM Classic. But something about this course doesn’t agree with him.
While most players come here and rip off eagles and birdies all week, Conners has a missed cut and T-75 in two starts at El Camaleon, shooting 70-plus in all six rounds. Again, Fowler shot in the 60s all eight of his rounds. That’s a huge discrepancy, and we’re going to take advantage with Fowler -110 in this matchup at FanDuel.

Charles Howell III (+100) Over Billy Horschel
Horschel is the favorite in this matchup after a T-8 finish last year. But Howell has been even stronger here over the past five years. He’s been T-20 or better in four of his last five Mayakoba starts, including a T-7 in 2016 and T-4 in 2017. He also turned in a solid T-30 two weeks ago at the RSM Classic.
Horschel has cooled off after a hot fall stretch, and we think Howell enters the week just a tad better-prepared to make a run. So, we’ll gladly take those even-money odds at +100 on Chucky Three Sticks with DraftKings.

Joel Dahmen (-125) Over Marc Leishman
We’re not ready to jump back on the Leishman bandwagon just yet despite his T-13 finish at the Masters. That was a promising week, but he was in a bad place before Augusta while trying to get his game going. Dahmen has been more consistent in recent months and better than Leishman in almost every statistical category. He also finished T-6 at this course last year while Leishman was T-24 in his first and only start here in 2016.
We expect Leishman to come around and get the game back in shape soon, but not this week. We’re on Dahmen -125 with DraftKings.
