ACC Tournament Odds, 2020 Betting Guide & Value Bet to Back
It there’s one conference tournament that has consistently been much-see TV and a great segue into March Madness betting and the NCAA Tournament, it’s been the ACC Tournament.
That may not be the case this year, a down season for a conference that typically leads the charts in terms of competitiveness. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has just five teams coming out of the ACC and CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has just four. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t money to be made, and it doesn’t mean an underdog can’t come out of nowhere to win the title and take the automatic bid to the Big Dance.
2020 ACC Tournament Odds
Oddsmakers believe it’s a three-team race for the ACC (Florida State, Duke, Louisville) with a semi-darkhorse in Virginia. Every other team is at +2500 or higher.

ACC Tournament Favorites
Florida State is the No. 1 seed and comes in on a 6-1 straight-up run. But there is a caveat with the strong Seminoles. They finished an astonishing 16-0 at home this season, but on the road went just 7-5 (3-0 on neutral sites).
On paper, Duke may be the top team in the conference. But the Blue Devils have lost three of six, and they’ve been more susceptible to the upset. Three of their five ACC losses came against Wake Forest, NC State and Clemson. They’re likely to face either the Demon Deacons (the ACC’s No. 12 seed who beat them by 12) or Wolfpack (the No. 5 seed, who beat them by 22) in the quarterfinals.
Louisville has dropped four of seven and has never advanced out of the quarterfinals in four ACC Tournaments.

Darkhorses to Consider
College basketball bettors looking for a real underdog? Clemson went just 9-11 in the ACC and is the No. 8 seed. But no other “other” team had such success against the Big Four, going 3-3 against them.
The Tigers beat Duke by seven and lost to Virginia by seven in a game that went down to the final minutes. They were blown out by Florida State and Louisville on the road, but took care of both of them in rematches at home. They’re a poor man’s Virginia – great defense, methodical style, offense-challenged – and a low-risk college basketball futures bargain at +3000.
ACC Tournament 2020 Picks
Each team has its strengths and flaws, but Virginia is the hottest of the bunch and it’s been there before – the Cavs are the defending national champions, after all. They’ve beaten each of the top-three teams, including Louisville and Duke in the last eight days of the regular season.
Florida State is the other contender heading into the tournament playing well. The Seminoles lost only four ACC teams, all by five points or less on the road, and one of those was the season opener in November (albeit to a bad Pittsburgh team).
Virginia at +700 has considerable value. Florida State at +200 is the safe bet.
