The Seattle Seahawks have just pulled off one of the great trades of the 2019 season. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapport, the Seahawks have agreed to trade a third-round pick and two bottom-of-the-roster linebackers in Barkevious Mingo and Jacob Martin for three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

With Clowney refusing to report to the Texans, Houston didn't have much choice in regards to moving the former No. 1 pick from the 2014 draft. However, it was the Seahawks who benefited greatly from the Texans' poor roster management. They now have several top-tier talents on their defense, including Bobby Wagner, Jarran Reed and, of course, Clowney.

Seahawks OVER 8.5 wins (-139)

Heading into the 2019 season, the most significant question mark surrounding the Seahawks was their lack of experience at defensive end. The team traded away disgruntled pass-rush Frank Clark, who led the team in sacks over the last three seasons. The team drafted defensive end L.J. Collier from TCU in the first round, but is injured and may not be ready for the start of the season.

But with Clowney now in the fold, this appears to be a much better, and deeper, roster than what they had in 2018. Considering they won 10 games last season despite starting 0-2 should make you feel confident that this team will have success this season. Seahawks to Make The Playoffs (+130)

Despite being the clear “No. 2” team in the division behind the Los Angeles Rams, the Seahawks are still a pretty good bet to make the playoffs. At SugarHouse, they are +130 to make the playoffs, which is incredible given Pete Carroll’s success in Seattle.

Since joining the team in 2010, the Seahawks have never won less than seven games and have made the playoffs in seven out of nine seasons. Despite a loaded NFC, expect Seattle to make the playoffs, especially with Clowney now in the fold.

Seahawks to Win The NFC West (+275)

Given the Pete Carroll-Russell Wilson pairing, it wouldn't be entirely shocking to see the Seahawks win the NFC West for the first time in four seasons. They have enough talent on both sides of the ball, and their home-field advantage should get them to 10 wins.

If the Rams take a step back after losing in the Super Bowl like many teams seem to do, don't be surprised if Seattle regains the NFC West Crown. Seattle would likely need to get to 11 or 12 wins to accomplish this and given their schedule, that doesn't seem all that unrealistic. Considering the odds, this may be the best bet on the board right now.

Seahawks to win the Super Bowl (+3000)

Despite the addition of Clowney, the Seahawks are still big underdogs to win the Super Bowl this year. In fact, eight other NFC teams have better odds than the Seahawks to win the NFC Championship (+1400) and the Super Bowl. Again, that seems off considering the experience, coaching staff and talent on this Seattle team.

At 30-1, the Seahawks aren't a bad darkhorse pick as they can now rush the passer as well as any other team in the conference. Don’t be afraid of putting a few units down on the Seahawks making a run in the playoffs as they have done it in the past.
