CFL Betting Picks Week 6: Back Roughriders Over Lions
We had a positive week with another win by betting against the Toronto Argonauts. This week, we’ll look in a different direction as we’ll leave the struggling boatmen alone for now.
The final game of the week features two one-win teams as the B.C. Lions visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Mean Green are laying just over a field goal in this spot and I like them to take care of business.
Bottom League Battle
The Lions and Roughriders both have one win on the year but how the teams have performed has told us a separate story. The Lions are just 1-4 with their lone win over the winless Argos via by a last-minute rouge. They escaped by the narrowest of margins. They haven’t looked great in other games.
In Week 5, the Lions were smoked 33-6 at home by the Edmonton Eskimos. Quarterback Mike Reilly was facing his former team, so if that’s what the Lions do in a focused effort, they’re in trouble. They have also lost by double-digits in Week 1 and 2 as well.
As for the Roughriders, things obviously haven’t been perfect for them either as they have just one win on the year. However, they lost by just six at Hamilton in Week 1, by three at Ottawa in Week 2, and they beat the Argos handily 32-7. Keep in mind that they’ve been playing without starting quarterback Zach Collaros, who was lost in the opener.
The issue is that they’re coming off their worst outing as they lost 37-10 at home to Calgary. However, the Roughriders are coming off a bye week, so that extra week off should give them an edge as they sort out what went wrong.

The Lions might have the better quarterback in this contest but that’s about it. And their offensive line has been terrible as they’ve allowed the most sacks in the CFL so far (17).
The Roughriders should get some reinforcements back for this game as Nick Marshall was back practicing after missing the Calgary game and Manny Arceneaux was as well.
Bet the Roughriders in this spot as I expect them to win this game and cover the relatively short number.
