It’s all about the money. Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning are set to take on Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady Sunday at the Champions for Charity golf match in Jupiter, Florida.

The star-powered event at Medalist Golf Club is expected to raise more than $10 million for coronavirus relief efforts. It will also provide much-needed golf betting entertainment for bettors everywhere. Good luck finding another foursome that includes 20 major championships, seven green jackets, eight Super Bowl wins and eight NFL MVP awards.

Mickelson beat Woods in a heads-up match two years ago in Las Vega,s and Woods finished tied for second in last October’s Japan Skins game against Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Hideki Matsuyama.

Woods has only played two events this season, finishing T-9 at the Farmers Insurance Open and 68th at the Genesis Invitational. Mickelson missed four of five cuts but scored a solo third at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February.

This should be a bit more competitive than your average pro-am. The quarterbacks are decent sticks — Manning is roughly a six handicap and Brady an eight handicap — and Woods would love to avenge that loss to Mickelson and the $9 million prize for their first match in Las Vegas.

Woods and Manning are big favorites with -190 odds at William Hill. That line is as high as -225 at a few other shops. Mickelson and Brady are +170 underdogs.

Match Winner: Woods/Manning over Mickelson/Brady, -190

Woods hasn’t played a competitive round in three months and skipped a few usual stops in Florida due to a lingering back issue. He’ll take all the rest he can get these days and should come out relatively fresh. This is also his home course. Can’t get more comfortable than that.

Mickelson has no experience at Medalist and hasn’t finished in the Top 10 at a tournament outside of California in more than two years. As for the quarterbacks, Manning retired in 2016. Brady continues to hold a demanding full-time job and recently signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Which one do you think has played more golf lately? Bet it at William Hill.

First to Go 1-Up: Mickelson/Brady, +120

Woods has never been known as a fast starter. Mickelson took a 1-up lead on the second hole of their match in Las Vegas, where Woods didn’t get an advantage until the 12th hole. It’s going to be a best ball format for the first nine holes, with Manning and Brady getting a stroke on three of them.

Mickelson has a 20-14-8 best ball record in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup. Woods is 15-22 and much better in singles and alternate shot. We’ll take the underdog odds here and wouldn’t be surprised to see Mickelson/Brady take the early lead. Bet it at 888sport.

Hole 10-18 Winner: Woods/Manning, -200

The back nine format is modified alternate-shot, with all four players hitting tee shots. The teams then choose their best one and play alternate shot from there. So if Manning and Brady blow an approach shot, Woods and Mickelson might have to play from some tricky spots around the green.

That’s where Woods’ home-course advantage will come into play as he knows every inch of the greens and surrounding areas.

Off the tee, Woods hit the fairway at a 65.8% clip in 2019. Mickelson was all over the map at 50.66%, nearly dead last on Tour. That means Brady might have to hit some uncomfortable recovery shots given the format. We like Woods and Manning to clean up on the back nine. Bet it at 888sport.

Either Team to Hole Shot from Off the Green: Yes, +260

Woods and Mickelson are two of the greatest wedge players of all time. And even amateurs like Brady and Manning can roll it in from the fringe on a given day. They have respectable handicaps, lower than most of the viewers who will be tuning in. We’re willing to bet at least one of the four can knock it in from off the green at those odds. Bet it at DraftKings.
