The 23rd MLS Cup is set for Saturday, December 8, as Atlanta United plays host to the Portland Timbers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 8 p.m ET.

Atlanta United has advanced to their first MLS Cup in only their second year of MLS existence. Manager Gerardo Martino has secured his first MLS Coach of the Year award, while his greatest asset, Josef Martinez, totes his Golden Boot status to the final game of 2018.

The Portland Timbers will be taking part in their second MLS Cup in four years and have the 2015 MLS Cup trophy from their first appearance. Manager Giovanni Savarese will be coaching in his first MLS Cup, and will, in fact, be partaking in a fourth straight finals from his time with the NY Cosmos of the NASL.

MLS Cup 2018 Best Bets

Atlanta United is listed as heavy home favorites against Portland. As you can see at 888sport, Atlanta has a -220 line attached to the 1x2 3-Way offer, as Portland can be played at a whopping +575 to win the MLS Cup.

Portland has gone over 2.5 in their last seven away games including the playoffs, and the Timbers just got done marching into Sporting Park and scoring three goals in the second leg of the Western Conference Finals.

Asian Handicap lines are where MLS betting fans should look for value.

The Over 3 Handicap

The expectations of a minimum 2-1 game holds more value than the -135 on the straight 2.5, at least as far as the price is concerned. Obviously. it depends on your views on a push/voided bet on three goals being scored, instead of cashing the 2.5 at -135.

The last time Atlanta was in this building, it tallied three goals in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Finals Portland has scored at least twice in five of their last six road games, which includes their extra time playoff win against Seattle (3-3 AET).

Bet over three goals at +130 with 888Sport.

Portland +1 Handicap

We have seen what Portland can do away from Providence Park this season, and this is another possible push scenario on the +1 goals handicap at +105 with 888Sport.

Should Portland lose by a goal, no harm, no foul, and our bets would be returned. Should Portland win or take it to extra time with a regulation draw? That +1 is a cashed ticket, so in essence, we have 2 of the 3 possible outcomes in our favor with the +1 on the Timbers.

Both Teams To Score

This play almost feels like an early holiday gift from the line setters. We will certainly see these two crash the 1-1 plateau with plenty of time to spare looking for more. Bet on it at -105 with 888Sport.

Sebastian Blanco To Score Anytime

That is quite a decent bit of value for Portland's Blanco to score in the MLS Cup at any time of the game (+575 at 888Sport), and if you agree and think he will score the first goal? A +1500 is waiting for you if you have those kinds of chops to think he will score first in the game.

Miguel Almirón To Score Anytime

There is the choice to make on Martinez or Almiron, because the two of them at home create so much excitement for the Five Stripes faithful.

One of them will certainly have to get on the score sheet to help Atlanta try to win their first MLS Cup. Martinez and Valeri will certainly have their say in all of that, and their player props are worth a look as well for soccer betting fans. Take Almirón to score anytime at +175 with 888Sport.
