NFL betting fans are in for a fantastic matchup and great Monday Night Football betting opportunities in Week 14 as the Minnesota Vikings (6-5-1) take on the Seahawks (7-5) in Seattle.

Both teams enter Week 14 in position to secure a wild-card spot with the loser likely on the outside looking in with just a few weeks left. If the season ended today, both the Seahawks would be the fifth seed and the Vikings the sixth. However, the result of this Monday Night Football game could go a long way to securing a spot for either team.

Monday Night Football Week 14 Best Bets

Seahawks (-3) Over Vikings

The Seahawks enter this game as three-point favorites, according to 888sport. Since 2010, the Seahawks have a record of 23-5-1 in prime-time games and are 14-2 at home. Considering Pete Carroll’s success under the lights, it’s hard to pick against the Seahawks at home.

They just don’t lose many games when they are in the national spotlight. It also doesn’t help that Vikings’ quarterback Kirk Cousins hasn’t played well in prime time. In his NFL career, Cousins is 0-6 on Monday Night Football.

For a team that had Super Bowl aspirations, their season hangs in the balance as the Vikings can ill afford to lose many more games. For the Vikings to clinch a playoff berth, they are going to need to go on a quite a run in the final month of the season.

Over the next four games, the Vikings will play just one team with a losing record (Detroit in Week 16). Minnesota has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, and they are a team that nobody would want to see in the playoffs.

For the Seahawks, they will finish the season with three out of their next four games at home. They will also take on the Cardinals and the 49ers, two of the worst teams in the NFL. They have played well as of late, winning three straight.

Sitting at 7-5, they are in the driver's seat for the No. 5 seed. A win at home on Monday would nearly lock them into that spot, considering their upcoming schedule. This matchup on Monday night could be the most impactful game of the weekend regarding the NFC playoffs.

Cousins has won just five of his 17 starts in prime time whereas Russell Wilson is a career 20-5-1. There may be some more urgency on the Vikings’ end of things, but I expect the Seahawks to win a close one in Seattle. Give me the Seahawks to cover at home and improve to 8-5.

Over/Under Total (Over 45.5)

The over/under betting line for this Week 14 NFC Showdown is set at 45.5 at SugarHouse, and that number seems just about right. For the past several seasons, the Seahawks and the Vikings have had two of the better defenses in the NFL.

However, each side has slipped a little this season as each is outside of the top-eight scoring defenses in the NFL. A few years ago, you could have expected this game to have an over/under near 38. On Monday night, it wouldn't be a surprise to see this game turn into a shootout.

However, pay attention to the injury report before betting on this game. The Vikings are banged up in the secondary with cornerback Xavier Rhodes nursing a hamstring injury and Trae Waynes missing practice this week with a concussion.

Starting linebacker Eric Kendricks is also dealing with a rib injury, and that could force him to miss Monday's game. Due to the injuries for Minnesota, I'm taking the over, hoping that this game turns into somewhat of a shootout. I expect each team to score somewhere in the upper 20s.
