Vancouver-New York City MLS Betting Pick: Plenty of Goals

It will be a busy weekend of action around the landscape of MLS, and points are at a premium as the push for MLS playoffs resumes.

MLS betting is also at a premium, and we have another little offer for our readers this weekend to utilize.

Last weekend, we discussed the new situation in Montreal, and our call for this weekend actually comes from what we saw from the midweek match on Wednesday night.

Vancouver and Montreal locked horns in a little Canadian rivalry game during the week, and our play this weekend involves the Whitecaps who will be hosting New York City FC.

Play: Vancouver vs. NYCFC Over 3 goals at -120 with Resorts

Vancouver managed to get slobberknocked by the San Jose Earthquakes last weekend, and that alone could have walked us into a play on this total for Saturday night at BC Place.

Montreal brought in a new head coach looking for an impact, if you will, but he lost his opening game to rival Toronto, 2-1 despite his team scoring the opening goal last weekend.

Vancouver took on Montreal on Wednesday night, and the Whitecaps came out assertive and scored first to open the game. After the Whitecaps blew a chance to make it 2 - 0 with a penalty kick opportunity, Vancouver did score again, but this time it was an own goal to level the game at 1-1. That momentum shift propelled Montreal to a 2-1 lead before halftime.

Montreal took the 2-1 win after a less than exciting second half produced nothing worth mentioning, and now the Whitecaps have to deal with one of the hottest teams in MLS this weekend.

I still feel like the Impact will completely fall apart and miss out on the playoffs, but Vancouver is in even worse shape coming into this home game with NYCFC on Saturday. With only 27 points, the Whitecaps are sitting in the Western Conference cellar tied with Colorado, and NYCFC is going to enjoy this road trip with plenty of balls finding the back of the net.

As Atlanta continues to win, NYCFC has to figure out a way to keep pace with the defending MLS Cup titleholders, as only one point separates the teams at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

Slowing down NYCFC has proven to be quite a difficult task over the last two months, and I certainly do not expect Vancouver to be the team that gets in their way. This is a golden opportunity for NYCFC to earn three points on the road and take advantage of a team that has no confidence whatsoever right now.

I also expect this line to inflate as the weekend gets closer, so the sooner you can get your play in, the better. We might not be seeing this reasonable of a line come kick-off, and I would hate to see you wait and have to settle for higher on this Over 3 with Resorts at -120.

Get your MLS betting action in and expect plenty of goals to find the net at BC Place on Saturday night.
