With a return of nineteen points from nine games played, Arsenal look like serious title contenders this term and their prospects of winning the Premier League could be greatly enhanced by an early European exit.

Arsene Wenger couldn’t have envisaged Champions League defeats against Zagreb and Olympiacos, although zero points from those games means consecutive defeats against Bayern Munich leaves them out of the competition.

A trip to the Allianz Arena will be a daunting one, so a lot of emphasis is therefore placed on Tuesday’s home match against the champions of Germany who have won every match this season since a Super Cup draw against Wolfsburg on 1 August.

Despite this string of W’s, you can actually get around even money that Bayern do the business at the Emirates, with Pep Guardiola’s team picking up a slender 1-0 win at Werder Bremen on Saturday.

The Bavarian side have already established a seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga and they won’t be approaching this fixture with a point in mind, with Arsenal having to fight fire with fire and get their opponents on the back foot.

The Gunners did win their last match at the Emirates 3-0 when beating Manchester United and it was a fast start which paid for the chances of the Red Devils.

Indeed, with Alexis Sanchez firing on all cylinders and the pace of Theo Walcott causing problems, Arsenal should definitely play their part in an entertaining game although we have to go for goals rather than bet on who will win what is sure to be a goal-filled encounter.
