Aston Villa’s start to the season has been a slow one, with Roberto Di Matteo needing to get things right on the pitch after just one win from the opening six matches.

A 3-0 victory against Rotherham stands out amidst a group of draws and defeats, although the Villans have one of the best Championship squads on paper after signing Ross McCormack, Jonathan Kodjia, James Chester and Mile Jedinak agreed to join the club this summer.

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a brighter start to the campaign after three wins and two defeats, although the latter have both come on the road and the sale of Oliver Burke to Leipzig effectively robs the Tricky Trees of their best player.

Pajtim Kasami has done well since arriving on loan from Olympiakos, although the defence have conceded over two goals on average per match and that doesn’t stack up too well against a Villa side blessed with attacking quality.

Di Matteo has had a fortnight since a 3-1 defeat at Bristol City to get things right at Villa Park and work with his group of players, with Villa having easily beaten the Millers and nearly getting the better of Huddersfield before a late equaliser.
