Betting Tip: Baby Mix @ 10/1 with coral

The Galway Handicap Chase run later on the card (6.40pm) looks wide open with most bookmakers going 8/1 the field. Tom Taaffe’s Gold Bullet comes in at that price and he doesn’t look too badly treated on his return to handicap company, having done well to win a conditions event at Clonmel last time.

However, I can’t let BABY MIX go unbacked at 10/1 after he carried my cash at Aintree last time when, in hindsight, he would have needed the run and possibly found the 2m trip on the sharp side. He likes to get on with things up front and it’s not hard to see him getting into a good rhythm around here and relishing the step up in trip. A classy juvenile hurdler when with Tom George, he showed he could get it done over fences too when slamming Turn Over Sivola by 18 lengths at Kempton three starts back, and he’s running off just a 1b higher mark today.

His trainer Warren Greatrex has issued this positive bulletin: “He was off for a long time with injury before Aintree, so I was very happy with his run. The trip was too short for him and he should be much better over two and a half miles.”
