At bigger odds I like the look of Robert Cowell’s CHANDRESH in the opening nursery at Bath. The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor is making her handicap debut here having had the requisite three runs and doesn’t look overburdened on a mark of 65. Having shown promise on her debut at Nottingham at the end of July and again when not beaten far in a three-runner affair at Lingfield, she didn’t really improve for the step to 6f last time and is probably best over the minimum for now.

From the same family as Airwave and the same stable’s Jwala, who were top-class, it’ll be a surprise if she can’t make her mark in this lowly handicap for a trainer who excels with sprinters and boasts a 28% strike rate (7-25) at this track for a £1 level-stakes profit of £12.73. His booking of champion jockey-elect Silvestre De Sousa is another positive and the Brazilian’s presence in the saddle helps to compensate for a less than ideal draw in stall nine (of 14).
