Like their rivals Newcastle, Sunderland are inching towards safety although Saturday’s goalless draw with Leicester means that they’re not yet over the line.

Indeed, the Black Cats’ final two matches couldn’t be more difficult, with a trip to the Emirates on Wednesday followed by Stamford Bridge on Sunday and it’s highly possible that Dick Advocaat’s team will remain on 37 points.

The hope will be that Hull City fail to beat Manchester United next weekend, although a goalless draw against Arsenal would be enough to guarantee Premier League football and we shouldn’t expect the visitors to be too expansive on Wednesday night.

Advocaat will have seen how Swansea went to the Emirates recently and landed a 1-0 win thanks to some stout defending and a preparedness to wait for scoring chances to come along.

Sunderland’s away form isn’t too shabby this season considering they have got something from eleven of their seventeen road trips, with a recent 2-1 win at Everton showing they are not without a sniff in this game.

However, Arsenal will want to finish with a flourish and bank third spot in the Premier League which will mean they avoid having to qualify for the Champions League group stage next term.

A hard-earned 1-1 draw at Old Trafford sets them up nicely for this encounter, with Theo Walcott potentially being given the chance to shine as the season draws to a close, while Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez both looked bright against Manchester United.

We are happy to back the Arsenal clean sheet and will go for 1-0 and 2-0 winning score lines in favour of the home side.
