Eastleigh couldn’t quite beat their Championship opponents ten days ago as the teams played out a 1-1 draw on a boggy pitch.

However, they now head to Lancashire feeling confident that they can win a replay against a troubled Bolton side who are propping up the Championship.

The odds seem stacked against Wanderers remaining in the second flight this season, while the Spitfires will harbour ambitions of breaking into the Football League, with Chris Todd’s team sitting in the play-off spots.

Eastleigh were value for a win in the original tie and have to be backed at a tasty price to claim victory this evening, with forward James Constable coming out with some bullish comments ahead of the match.

“We were three minutes away from winning against Bolton at our place. We did really well. We were gutted to be denied right at the end.

“But we know now that Bolton are beatable. We know we can compete with them – we have proved that. We saw nothing there that overawes us.

“We were only two or three minutes away from winning. Of course we know it is going to be difficult at their place. They know all about us now. But we are confident – we have got nothing to lose.

“They will be desperate to win because of the problems they have got off the field. We just have to play our game.”

Eastleigh’s away form this season is impressive. They have won seven and drawn four of their thirteen league matches, while they have also notched wins at Bromley, Crewe and Stourbridge to reach this stage of the competition.

This is a Football League club in the making, on the rise and going up against a team whose players aren’t getting their wages on time. It all points to a potential upset.
