It’s the match that some are calling the “Jurgen Klopp Derby” – whatever that means.

Hyperbole aside, it’s a game that pits one of the best teams in Europe against a side who are in the process of being rebuilt after several false dawns over the years.

Jurgen Klopp famously enjoyed plenty of success at the Westfalenstadion, not least enjoying back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, while he also steered Dortmund to the Champions League final.

However, he’s engaged in a transitional season at Anfield, with his Liverpool team unlikely to get a positive result on Thursday night for this Europa League clash.

Liverpool have lost nine matches in the Premier League this season and were only just able to scramble past Augsburg in the previous round.

On the flip side, Dortmund are red-hot, especially on home soil where they have won twelve and drawn two of their fourteen games.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has boshed in 23 goals for his team and Thomas Tuchel is proving to be more than adequate when following in Klopp’s footsteps.

A goalless draw against Bayern Munich has been the only time the German side haven’t tasted defeat in the past thirteen matches, with Dortmund rallying from 2-1 down to win 3-2 against Werder Bremen on Saturday.
