Most people have taken Bournemouth to their heart this season, with last season’s Championship winners playing an attractive brand of football under a likeable manager in Eddie Howe.

It was always going to be a tough challenge for the Cherries to remain in the Premier League although last weekend’s 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge keeps their head above water and Aston Villa’s ineptitude means that it could just be two spots up for grabs.

Saturday seems like a good time to be facing a Manchester United side who have lost their identity since Sir Alex Ferguson finally stepped down. David Moyes wasn’t given time and Louis van Gaal has made a series of bizarre signings and tactical choices which saw the Red Devils deservedly exit the Champions League during the week.

Bournemouth’s team spirit is that much better than their opponents at the moment, even if they’re not as good player-for-player. We should also note that the Cherries are now three games unbeaten after a 2-2 draw at Swansea and then a 3-3 draw at home to Everton.

This never-say-die spirit is all the better for the fact they have lost Callum Wilson and Max Gradel to long-term injuries, while Van Gaal also has key personnel missing and Bastian Schweinsteiger will be lucky to escape a three-match ban.

The bookies are happy to lengthen United’s odds and despite their excellent defensive record this season, we’re not sure they will stop the Cherries after shipping three at Wolfsburg on Tuesday night.
