There’s more than one way to skin a cat, with Brighton and Middlesbrough illustrating different ways of ascending the Championship table and staying there this season.

The Seagulls are an attacking team who have been unbeaten all season, something that is no mean feat after twenty-one matches. Eight wins and two draws at the AMEX Stadium has underpinned a return of forty-three points although they do have issues ahead of this game.

For starters, they have Lewis Dunk suspended for this clash, with the central defender idiotically getting himself sent off at QPR on Tuesday and ultimately costing his team two points.

Indeed, while Brighton led 2-0 in that match, they weren’t particularly convincing and Rangers were good value for a point.

It has now been six matches since Chris Hughton’s team kept a clean sheet and that’s a worrying stat ahead of a clash against a Middlesbrough side who top of the Championship on goal difference.

Aitor Karanka’s team heart-breakingly missed out on promotion through the play-offs last term, although they are racking up the clean sheets in recent matches.

No team has scored against Boro in their past five Championship clashes, with QPR, Huddersfield, Ipswich and Burnley all beaten.

It’s an unspectacular approach from the Teeside team although Ben Gibson and Daniel Ayala are closing out opposition attacks for fun at the moment, with Stewart Downing the star turn in this team who will be hard for Brighton to break down.

The slight issue is in attack where Boro lack a real sharp shooter to see them over the line in matches, although there is enough firepower spread out through the team to see them over the line on Saturday.
