Challenging times for Francesco Guidolin who has just seen Andre Ayew leave for West Ham as part of a £20 million deal.

The Italian isn’t sure whether Ashley Williams is staying at the club, although it’s unlikely that the centre-half will be deployed during Saturday’s game at Turf Moor considering his involvement at Euro 2016.

There have been a number of notable arrivals including Fernando Llorente, Leroy Fer and Mike van der Hoorn, although they are not show-stopping signings and the departure of Ayew must be pretty galling for supporters who saw the forward singlehandedly save their team a lot last season.

Burnley will approach this match with confidence after winning the Championship title last term, even if the Clarets have barely strengthened during the summer.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Nick Pope and Jon Flanagan are the trio of arrivals that add to the squad who enjoyed promotion last term, although Sean Dyche knows what he’s doing after narrowly failing to keep Burnley in the top flight two seasons ago.

Andre Gray is potentially the striker that can keep them afloat this term, with Joey Barton the only notable departure from the club in the summer and there is plenty of other midfield cover in Scott Arfield, George Boyd and Dean Marney.

We’re backing Burnley to demonstrate what happens when you have a class striker on the pitch.
