More Blues for departing Manuel Pellegrini

The season is threatening to unravel for Manchester City who appeared on the verge of a domestic treble a few weeks ago, although could yet end the season trophy-less.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have lost consecutive home matches against Leicester and Tottenham which moves them from title favourites to outsiders, while they are clearly unlikely to win the Champions League.

That leaves the domestic cups and they have a Wembley date with Liverpool next weekend in addition to a European clash in Ukraine on Wednesday night when City clash with Dynamo Kiev.

Therefore, perhaps they’ll field a weakened team for this low priority match and Chelsea are ready to take full advantage.

John Terry didn’t make it back in time to face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night but the Blues captain should be back in central defence for this clash and Chelsea won their last Stamford Bridge clash by a 5-1 scoreline.

Pedro and Willian look to be in great form, with Diego Costa likely to be a handful against whichever City defenders line up. Pellegrini might also consider leaving Sergio Aguero out of the XI ahead of crunch clashes the following week.

Domestically, Guus Hiddink has yet to taste defeat since taking interim charge of Chelsea and the Dutchman will be set on winning the FA Cup and making sure he leaves the club with some silverware to show for a largely underwhelming campaign.
