Should Chelsea be the outsiders to win on Wednesday night? Guus Hiddink’s side were close to landing a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes, with a late Edinson Cavani goal proving the difference between the two teams.

Even so, the Blues probably would have taken this scoreline before the match and there are signs that Paris Saint-Germain aren’t the invincible team in France that everybody was previously talking about.

On Saturday, PSG were held to a goalless draw by Montpellier after previously losing 2-1 at Lyon. Given that they are seventeen points clear at the top, Laurent Blanc is hardly going to lose sleep after these results although not ideal preparation for this game.

Chelsea will be raring to go for this clash. The London side have worked their way into the top half of the Premier League and that reverse in Paris remains the only time they have tasted defeat under Hiddink.

There are players to return to the first team after a 1-1 draw with Stoke including Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, with Chelsea having recently demolished Manchester City and Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

Just the one goal is required to swing the tie in favour of Chelsea and it will be all about a patient approach and the chance to take any opening that come the way of the home side.

David Luiz made a triumphant return to the Bridge twelve months ago when PSG went through although the centre-half was happily sold to the Ligue 1 side due to some erratic defensive displays and he will potentially struggle against Costa who was made for matches such as these.
