There was a twenty-point difference between Chelsea and Tottenham in the Premier League last season, with Spurs spending most of the campaign challenging for the title while their rivals were floundering in the lower reaches of the table.

Fast forward to the current campaign and the landscape looks a lot different. Chelsea aren’t just back at the levels that saw them crowned champions in May 2015 – they have become something pretty special under Antonio Conte who appears to be enjoying far more harmonious relations than Jose Mourinho did with his players by the end.

Many might argue that Chelsea have a test on Saturday when Tottenham Hotspur come to visit, although this is a Blues side who have won their past three home matches by scorelines of 3-0, 4-0 and 5-0.

Manchester United were supposed to be a difficult opponent after drawing 0-0 at Anfield. That finished 4-0. Everton were meant to be posing a few questions of their own. That finished 5-0. What odds on the 6-0?!

Tottenham aren’t helped by a slump in form which has seen them exit stage-left from the Champions League and Mauricio Pochettino is now plainly aware that changes need to be made to his squad.

It’s hardly a surprise that Spurs have hit the buffers. They almost over-achieved last term and it’s worth noting they remain unbeaten this season in the Premier League.

However, this will surely come to an end on Saturday evening. Diego Costa remains a game away from a suspension although the forward is quietly going about his business and proved to be the match winner on Sunday when Middlesbrough were beaten 1-0.

Eden Hazard is on his way to becoming PFA Player of the Year, with the defence playing superbly and the three centre-halves have made life difficult for the opposition.
