The 6f apprentice handicap at Windsor (due off 5.55pm) looks decidedly difficult at first glance and punters may be inclined to give it a swerve. However, there’s more than enough juice in the price of the Ron Harris-trained CLASSIC PURSUIT to merit a small each-way wager. His chance is not obvious as he’s on a losing streak of 11 and has finished nearer last than first on his two most recent starts, which helps explain his 16/1 price tag.

However, he’s tumbled down the weights as a result and lines up this evening on a perch of just 61, which is 5lb lower than his last winning mark. That was achieved on the all-weather at Kempton at this time last year and his only win on turf came over course and distance (good to firm) a couple of seasons back. A bold bid would not be a total surprise then and especially as he has a good draw in stall two under Edward Greatrex, who claims a valuable 5lb.

Just for good measure, Harris has his team in good form with a couple of wins and a couple of seconds from a handful of runners in the last fortnight.
