The champions of England face the champions of Belgium on Wednesday night, although neither team have started their title defence particularly brightly.

Leicester were on the receiving end of a 4-1 thumping by Liverpool on Saturday evening, with the Foxes unable to cope with the pace and movement of the Reds, although it’s worth noting that they created a number of chances themselves.

Robert Huth hit the crossbar with a header, Jamie Vardy missed a one-on-one and they were especially dangerous in the air thanks to the set piece delivery of Riyad Mahrez.

Therefore, while they might have enjoyed just one win from their opening four top flight games, they have shown enough quality to be more than a match for a Club Brugge team who were beaten 7-1 on aggregate by Manchester United in the Champions League play-off last term.

That included a 4-0 win for the Red Devils in Belgium and bear in mind this was a defensive Louis van Gaal side with little in the way of redeeming features.

Claudio Ranieri will be sniffing blood in this Champions League opener, with Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani likely to be involved, while Vardy will be his usual buzzy self and attack at will.

Danny Drinkwater actually played quite well at Anfield and should help snuff out the opposition, with Leicester having spent sizeable sums of cash in the summer, the likes of which dwarf the budget of their opponents.

Therefore, we’re happy to get with the Foxes at odds-against considering they are playing their first ever Champions League clash and perhaps Brugge might be sucker-punched by them based on their exploits last term.
