It’s a high-risk game of poker for Turkey on Tuesday night, with Fatih Terim’s side needing to win this clash at all costs if they are to continue their Euro 2016 adventure.

The same applies to Czech Republic and it’s slightly strange to see them as favourites to win the game, having been roundly outplayed by Spain and then Croatia before somehow salvaging a 2-2 draw against the latter.

It was a point that was barely deserved and owed something to the disruption from the stands towards the end of the game, with the Czechs having gone 2-0 down as the Croats created a raft of chances.

Turkey have clearly done little thus far against two very good teams who could easily meet in the final of Euro 2016, although they might find things a good deal easier against a team who don’t boast the same quality player-for-player.

At odds of bigger than 2/1, the Turks can show they are the team for the big occasion, with Arda Turan, Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Burak Yilmaz possessing the weapons to cause some real damage for a side whose time at Euro 2016 might not yet be over.

Remember the words of Roy Hodgson when Turkey narrowly lost 2-1 to England at the Etihad Stadium. The Three Lions boss described them as a very good football side and perhaps they will stand up and be counted.
