The two pre-season favourites to win the Championship meet on Tuesday night and Middlesbrough are a juicy price to land victory.

Aitor Karanka’s side drew 0-0 at Preston in their opening match, although a 3-0 win against Bolton Wanderers illustrates that they are starting to find their feet this season.

Boro are set to be the best team defending-wise this season, with odds of 11/5 looking too big about the Teeside outfit against a Derby side who have taken just a point from their two opening matches.

Paul Clement has also seen a strong Rams team go out of the Capital One Cup against Portsmouth, with a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic suggesting the team are yet to click, even if the manager felt optimistic afterwards.

“You can say it was a reslient away performance by Charlton. They had two banks of four, a lot of bodies behind the ball and got in their blocks,” said Clement .

“Their goal came from a big slice of luck after we had dominated the possession, but that can happen in football. You can be caught a blow like that at times but I was really pleased with the character the players showed after going a goal down”.

Even so, Craig Bryson and Will Hughes are missing from the midfield that started the season opener and you have to think that the quality of Stewart Downing could make the difference here.
