The other standout bet on the card is RISK ADJUSTED in the opening seven-furlong nursery handicap and I can’t for the life of me work out why he’s as big as 10/1. Okay, it’s a competitive race and one in which virtually all the runners can be given a chance of sorts. But none can boast such a sexy form line as the selection, who recent Sandown second could not have worked out better.

Ann Duffield’s charge was beaten just a head by Sir Mark Prescott’s Time Warp, with a near two-length gap back to Carrington in third. The winner was the first to frank the form when following up in a French Listed event and the third did his bit when winning a nursery at Goodwood six days later, and reopposes here. The handicapper doesn’t miss a trick and has raised the selection 6lb, but he may still be improving after just six starts and is evidently held in some regard at home judging by his entry in next month’s Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar.

There is probably a reason why he’s as a big as he is today and a couple may prove to be better handicapped (Richard Hannon’s Tidal Wave scares me most), but I cannot see any downside to a decent each-way punt at a double-figure price with Sky Bet, who are one quarter the odds (a fifth elsewhere). They are also offering to refund losing win stakes (as a free bet, up to £25) if your horse finishes second and third – you can’t say fairer than that!
