Gareth Southgate has selected his 23-man squad for Russia and we’re likely to see several of them feature on Saturday 2 June, with England clashing with Nigeria at Wembley Stadium.

Harry Kane has been given the captain’s armband and will surely lead the line against the Super Eagles, while he’s likely to be joined by Tottenham team-mates Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Kieran Trippier.

This is very much a chance for the England players to impress their manager ahead of that World Cup curtain-raiser against Tunisia, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson likely to be omitted from duties considering their Champions League final involvement.

Raheem Sterling will surely play a key role in attack for the Three Lions, with Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard returning to the scene of their FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea, with Gary Cahill playing in central defence as part of the Blues win.

Nigeria also have a Chelsea player in their ranks, with Victor Moses one of the most important for the African team, while former Blues midfielder Jon Obi Mikel is the Super Eagles captain.

In their most recent friendly match, the Nigerians were beaten 2-0 by Serbia at Barnet’s Hive, although this was preceded by a 1-0 victory in Poland against the team who are favourites to win Group H.

A 4-2 win over Argentina last autumn also suggests that the visitors can be dangerous in this match, although England were very solid defensively at home during qualifying and we’re happy to back them to win to nil in this match.
