Gareth Southgate drew encouragement from England’s performance against Spain despite slumping to a 2-1 defeat at Wembley on Saturday.

The England manager saw Marcus Rashford fire the Three Lions in front before Saul Niguez and Rodrigo turned the game on its head, with Southgate now considering his options for Tuesday’s friendly at the King Power Stadium.

There are likely to be some tacit agreements between the England head coach and the Premier League managers which could see several players used sparingly and a few new players fielded.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Tarkowski and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are among those who could start this game, with the latter looking bright when making cameo appearances at the 2018 World Cup.

England are missing Raheem Sterling and we won’t see Luke Shaw appear in Leicester considering the head injury that was sustained against the Spanish.

Switzerland look like a decent prospect ahead of this match and they were merciless when thrashing Iceland 6-0 on Friday which is possibly the most emphatic Nations League scoreline we’ll see for the whole of this tournament.

It was little surprise to see Xherdan Shaqiri feature heavily as part of that victory, with the Swiss having six different scorers and they were a team who nearly ended up meeting England at the World Cup.

With plenty of substitutes likely to halt the second half and England far from full strength, the draw looks like the obvious play in this clash.
