How does Roberto Martinez set up his Everton team on Sunday? To attack the early Premier League leaders, hoping that Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku can cause problems for Vincent Kompany & Co?

Or to adopt a more pragmatic approach where the Toffees look to marginalise David Silva and perform some kind of hatchet job on Sergio Aguero?

Tony Pulis and Jose Mourinho have both failed with their tactical approach against the Premier League title favourites so far, with Pulis admitting two players up front allowed Silva to run the show.

Similarly, Mourinho was unable to find any way of preventing City dominating last weekend, with Aguero’s pace and trickery frightening to the extent that John Terry was substituted at half-time.

Manchester City are purring like a Rolls Royce at the moment and it’s hard to see how Everton are going to stop them in their tracks, with Yaya Toure, Silva and Aguero hitting the right notes.

Raheem Sterling remains a work in progress but his pace is clearly an asset, while Jesus Navas also provides trickery from out wide.

Everton’s first match of the season was a 2-2 draw against Watford although an improvement was found when winning 3-0 at St Mary’s. A big game is again required of Barkley who is finally beginning to realise the obvious potential that marks him out as “unique” in the eyes of Martinez.

John Stones is also being tracked by Chelsea right now, with a £30m bid the latest to be rejected by Everton, although a bright performance by the England defender against the best attack in the country might see a fourth bid closer to £40m arrive next week.
