Five games, five wins for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team who have enjoyed a flyer in the Dutch Eredivisie who will go into Thursday’s clash against Manchester United feeling super confident.

While the domestic league in the Netherlands is clearly far inferior to the English Premier League, there have been fifteen goals scored in five games and Dirk Kuyt has bagged three goals in his previous two games.

Indeed, the former Liverpool man continues to thrive at the age of 36, with Karim El Ahmadi flourishing during his second spell with the club after a two-year stint with Aston Villa.

Another reason for siding with Feyenoord is that Manchester United will be massively changed from the side that lost the derby on Saturday, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw among those to be benched.

It could be a complete second-string team and, while Marcus Rashford is a classy young striker, it could still pay to oppose the Red Devils who might have Ashley Young and Memphis Depay supporting the young colt, while Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are likely to operate in deeper midfield.

Jose Mourinho might not be treating this competition with a huge amount of respect this term, with Feyenoord enjoying that winning feeling and there is no substitute for confidence.
