It was a hugely frustrating afternoon at the iPro Stadium for Derby County as they struggled to get a shot on goal against a Hull City team who were organised and took their chances well.

Steve Bruce admitted after the game he couldn’t have expected his team to enjoy a three-goal margin, although the Tigers now looked nailed-on to reach Wembley and give themselves a brilliant chance of promotion.

Hull obviously don’t need to win this second leg clash, although their superiority on Saturday suggests that the same sort of thing could happen here, with City looking a decent shout at odds-against for this one.

Confidence is set to be low among the Derby squad and no amount of soul-searching from Darren Wassall and his coaching staff are going to unearth the answers that will help them overcome the 3-0 deficit.

City could turn the screw further in this clash, having smashed Rotherham 5-1 in their last home match and an early goal from the home side could see heads drop among the visitors.

Bruce will want to put the tie to bed and also lay down a marker ahead of the play-off final, with the same XI likely to be fielded for that match which would include the dangerous Abel Hernandez.

Hull only lost one home match during the regular season and that came against Derby although much has changed and the absence of George Thorne has really deprived County of someone who can protect the defence.
