Mike Phelan has done spectacularly well in his role as caretaker manager of Hull City. Indeed, the former Manchester United coach is likely to be given the gig on a full-time basis considering he’s engineered victories against Leicester and Swansea thus far.

There was also a League Cup win at Exeter although the squad remains small and boasts limited quality, with moneybags Manchester United arriving at the KC Stadium with some expensive recruits.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has wasted little time bedding in at Old Trafford and has three goals in two games, with the Swede licking his lips at the prospect of playing a team whose players were largely operating in the Championship last term.

Paul Pogba purred throughout his debut against Southampton and the Frenchman could run the show in midfield, while the United defence has looked watertight despite Daley Blind and Eric Bailly being a largely untested central partnership.

With this in mind, we’re happy to back United on the handicap to win this game by two goals or more. Hull might have won their first two matches but they will meet a different calibre of opposition here.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that Leicester were off the boil here a fortnight ago and still missed glorious chances to get something from the game, while the Swans had the majority of the game last week.

Jose Mourinho’s side already know how to get the job done as they demonstrated at Bournemouth and then against Southampton, so we’re happy to side with them on the handicap here.
