Hull City are the favourites to win promotion to the Premier League on Saturday, with the Tigers meeting Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley.

Steve Bruce has previously guided Hull to an FA Cup final and is now bidding to steer City into the top flight for the second time, although they are by no means nailed on to beat a Wednesday side with amazing team spirit.

The Owls will relish the role of underdogs although this is a team who landed sixth spot in a highly competitive division. They then did a number on Brighton at Hillsborough before riding a storm at the AMEX.

Wednesday have a brilliantly robust defence which stood up to the Seagulls first-half onslaught and they have attacking players who can make a difference.

Ross Wallace has a good dead ball delivery, Barry Bannan can find space in tight areas and Fernando Forestieri is a tricky customer who can probe away at the Hull defence.

Bruce was clearly concerned by the way in which his side opened up to allow Derby to score twice and nearly restore parity at the KC Stadium.

Indeed, Hull have been hit and miss quite a bit in recent months and they really did fail to stay the course with Burnley, Middlesbrough and Brighton during the regular season.

Expectations levels are that much higher at the KC Stadium and a play-off final like this is such a high stakes game that it must surely be no more than coin toss between the two sides.

The two matches between the sides this season both ended in a draw. A 1-1 draw at Hillsborough was followed by a goalless encounter at the KC Stadium, with a cagey encounter expected in this one.

Indeed, one goal could settle things in normal time and we’re happy to have a small wager on Wednesday landing the tie by a 1-0 scoreline.
