Spain were beaten by Croatia during the group stage. Meanwhile, Portugal were held by Hungary, having to come from behind three times to salvage a draw.

Yet the fact that Portugal managed to knock Croatia out of Euro 2016 on Saturday night suggests that the former aren’t a bad side and that Hungary deserve more respect than the layers have afforded them against Belgium.

The Hungarians have been the surprise package of the tournament, with many regarding them as making up the numbers after qualifying through the play-offs, although the Magyars haven’t looked back since beating Austria.

There are no superstars in this team, although they have been free-scoring enough to find six goals during the group stage and Belgium are not the established tournament nation who will find this match easy-going.

Indeed, those of us who follow the Premier League will be overly-familiar with a team boasting Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne among others, although the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portugal team didn’t help them beat Hungary on Wednesday.

Therefore, we’re at least tempted to side with the unbeaten Magyars on the handicap market, with Hungary worth supporting to either win the game or potentially take the tie into extra-time or penalties.

Belgium might have beaten Republic of Ireland 3-0 although they suffered defeat at the hands of Italy in their opener before a slender victory over Sweden.

The Belgians are deadly on the counter-attack although this could be far more evenly-matched than the odds suggest.
