What happens when you lose 3-2 at home to Brighton and then get a hammering at the Madejski Stadium?

If you’re Mick McCarthy, you go back to basics and make sure that the Ipswich team defend properly, which is what happened at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

Town are challenging at the right end of the table once again this season, with that mini-blip last week having been straightened out against Leeds and we fancy them to claim victory over Birmingham.

The Blues are sitting seventh in the table after a bright start to the campaign although four of their six matches have taken place at St Andrews, along with the fact that City’s one away win came at newly-promoted MK Dons.

Therefore, Birmingham could be in a false position and we’re expecting them to struggle against an Ipswich side who are a tough nut to crack at Portman Road.

There have already been victories against Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley this term, with Daryl Murphy looking to get back on the goal trail after last season’s amazing haul.

Birmingham hadn’t lost a game before Tuesday night’s reverse against Nottingham Forest, although they have conceded goals in every Championship game bar one this season and it’s reasonable to assume they could suffer in this one.
