There are two early pace-setters in the Sky Bet Championship and the teams come face to face on Friday night, with Leeds entertaining Middlesbrough in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Both sides have thirteen points from their opening five matches, something that already gives them a cushion over the chasing pack if you ignore third-placed Bolton whose lofty position seems unsustainable.

Maybe there isn’t even a chasing pack this year and the early signs are these will be the two teams to beat, with Leeds operating in a slick fashion under Marcelo Bielsa and they are scoring plenty of goals.

Fourteen have been plundered thus far, with Kemar Roofe in excellent form although he’s flanked by Mat Klich and Pablo Hernandez, both of whom have already bagged three times for the Whites.

Ezgjan Alioski and Samuel Saiz also add a touch of class for an attacking team who look heavily likely to be occupying one of the automatic promotion spots come the end of the season.

Middlesbrough look a slightly more modest outfit, although they’ve won all their games since drawing 2-2 at Millwall in a fortunate fashion on the opening day of the season.

Boro have actually kept four consecutive clean sheets and that’s partly down to the acquisition of Aden Flint who proved himself a quality defender for Bristol City last term and is now part of a difficult team to break down.

The Teeside club won’t be taking many chances for this clash and we’re likely to see three central defenders at the back again, with Adam Clayton and Jonny Howson in the engine room.

Leeds will ask plenty of questions of their opponents although a draw would be a positive outcome for both teams heading into the international break and we can see this one ending goalless.
